Public Transport Pass
A Public Transport Day Pass is handy for tourists who like to ride the trams in Amsterdam. True to say, Amsterdam is a compact city and many sights are within walking distance of each other, yet a tram ride is fun and if you want to visit the Amsterdam suburbs a Day Pass is almost a must, unless you like to walk long distances
Your Day or Multi Day Pass of GVB – Amsterdam Municipal Transport – allows you unlimited transport on trams, buses and metro in Amsterdam for a fixed price.
Be warned! Your Day Pass is only valid in trams, buses and metro run by GVB, NOT Connexxion and EBS transport!
The price of a Day Pass ranges from €7,50 for a 24-hour ticket to €32 for a 168-hour (7 days) ticket. There is a reduced rate for children between 4 – 11 accompanied by at least one adult.
Check In and Check Out
Your Day or Multi-Day Pass is valid for one day or for more days. Validate your pass when you get on to the tram, metro or bus for he first time. Each time you get on or get off the tram, bus or metro, you must check in or check out by swiping your card at the card terminal in the tram and bus or at the entrance / exit of the metro station.
Sales Outlets
* Buy your 24 and 48-hour pass from the tram driver. Bus drivers sell only 24-hour passes.
* All passes can be bought from vending machines at metro stations – children passes cannot be bought here.
* Tourist Information Offices in Amsterdam also sell Day and Multi Passes, but they don’t have the full range of products.
