Electric Ladyland Museum a Fluorescent World
Electric Ladyland in Amsterdam is no ordinary museum. As soon as you step inside, you are part of a fluorescent world. Nick Padalino, the owner, calls his museum participatory art. A visit to this tiny museum takes you back to the time when Flower Power was at its peak in Amsterdam.

Flower Power
A visit to Electric Ladyland is a surprising, almost alien experience. You don soft slippers, walk downstairs, and you enter a world reminiscent of the Flower Power period in the 1970s. No need for party drugs to enter this world of psychedelic art and music because once downstairs you are surrounded by alien shapes that seem to have escaped straight from science fiction films.

Black Light
When the black light is switched on, these shapes seem to come to life and start to glow. Unsightly chunks of stone light up green when illuminated with this same light. The collection consists of a large number of fluorescent minerals that shine and sparkle when illuminated with UV light. In the interactive section you can switch lights on and off, each time with a different visual result. Nothing is boring in this unique museum where everything revolves around fluorescent art.

A Brief History
In 1999, Nick Padalino opened the art gallery “Electric Lady” which you enter via the upper floor of the museum. The name of the gallery is inspired by Jimi Hendrix’s recording studio, Electric Lady Studios, which still exists in New York, and the name of the museum is inspired by Jimi Hendrix’s masterpiece: Electric Ladyland, the third and final album of the Jimi Hendrix Experience that was released in 1968 and was the best-selling album Hendrix ever made.
