Café de Jaren
The canal-side patio of Café De Jaren in Amsterdam is chic, elegant and popular. This is the place-to-be on a balmy summer evening. The view of the Amstel River is breathtaking. De Jaren is a household name in Amsterdam; tourists and locals know how to find their way to this imposing building which used to be a bank. De Jaren is your place for lunch, high tea and an aperitif, but also for coffee and famous Dutch apple pie
The Patio
The patio of Café De Jaren is famed – to be more precise the patio AND the balcony. The river view is magnificent. Drinks on the patio and dinner or lunch at the balcony; there is hardly a better place in Amsterdam to while away the time.
Lunch
Lunch at Café De Jaren is popular, especially the salad buffet. Tomato soup with fresh basil and crème fraîche followed by grilled Black Angus steak with mushrooms and roast potatoes and as a dessert caramel meringue with rosemary and orange coulis; who can resist this?
High Tea
Are you craving for scones and clotted cream? High tea is served until 5 pm and includes butter cake, brownies and egg mayonnaise with cress and ham with mustard mayonnaise sandwiches.
Coffee
Café De Jaren is the perfect place for morning coffee; Illy espresso, cappuccino, macchiato or latte. Something sweet to go with your coffee, a difficult decision. Should it be a brownie, tiramisu or maybe that lemon merengue pie or would you rather have banana cream tartlets with coconut?
