IJ-Kantine’s fabulous terrace has the best view of the IJ River. Watch ships, boats and canal boats sail past while enjoying your drink. Be sure to come for the Royal Lunch. Be back in the evening to see the sun set.

French Wine

When you are tired of sightseeing there is nowhere better in Amsterdam to treat yourself to a glass of French wine than in Restaurant-Cafe IJ-kantine. This lovely spot seemingly light years away from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam centre serves up great meals. Go for roast beef with truffle mayonnaise and Parmesan cheese or steak tartare with quail egg. The homemade tuna salad is a definite winner.

High Tea

When you are craving for a genuine British High Tea, come to the IJ-Kantine. You will be served biological tea, savoury sandwiches, cakes, scones and apple pie. The only snag is that you will have to order this two days in advance. Want to go Dutch? Try veal croquettes served on slices of bread, a dollop of mustard is the finishing touch.
